August's First Birthday

Okay.  So I'm a little behind;)  My defense is always if I'm blogging about it I don't really have time to live it. My little ones first birthday was what you would expect...surrounded by chaos.  His older brother Landon started spiking a fever a couple days before his actual birthday.  We thought we were lucky.  No vomiting, no fever, or any of the other seven rings of hell that usually accompany childhood viruses.  Pride goeth (is that really a word?) before the fall.  We called around to let people know that Landon had a fever but we were still on for August's birthday!  It was no big deal as far as virus' go, right?  We had been through worse.  This was NOTHING.  They bailed (you know who you are).  They knew they were dealing with a woman in denial.  Well everyone bailed but my trusty sidekick, Jen.  She has 6 kids.  She's not scared.  Not even a little (maybe a little but I told her nobody was throwing up and she was okay).  The party was a smashing success.  I have the pictures to prove it (hundreds of them).  He smashed the cake on him, my wall, the blinds and slimed anything or anyone within grabbing distance.  August didn't get the flu until midnight.  Such a good boy.  Sighs.  The rest of the week you could have filmed the exorcist three at my house.  No, the kids were perfect.  It was me that needed a Priest.  I said and did things in my sleep deprived state I am not proud of, Ladies.  You know you've been there and will be there again and again.  We're moms.  Its what we do.  When my normally busy toddler became an accessory for a week and refused to sleep without being snuggled up cheek-to-cheek I took it in stride...and kissed my box of Tamiflu.
